MONTEBASSO (Daniel Niederberger, 1950 – Aarau CH) studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Groningen and in Rotterdam and he is also a qualified chef.
Besides practising his artistic skills he has been a chef in Groningen (1971) and in Rotterdam (1980). For the BUITENKUNST Foundation (Open Air Art) he started a tented restaurant (1986).
Being a painter, graphic artist and photographer, he has been concentrating mainly in and with aspects of Nature for five years. These works of MONTEBASSO create a new measure in the primary relation between Art and Nature. They are artefacts which use vegetable materials and the models and forms of natural growth to bring out the communication and empathy between a man-made presence and the environment with which it is designed to be consonant. With the establishment of the BOOMMUSEUM MONTEBASSO has realised an interactive virtual museum where, apart from permanent exhibitions, topical events in the field of art and nature are presented.
Furthermore he was the owner of the MONTEGRAFICA studio for graphic design and in 2000 the studio was extended with the introduction of armadilo webdesigners (ceased). ARCHIMONTE was the name of the departement for collaboration with architects.
Today he is working alternately in Rotterdam and in Sicily and sporadically organizes workshops
